Adult laser tag is quickly growing in popularity. Most laser tag arenas are built to appeal to the adult market and in fact, a recent study shows 39 percent of all adult laser tag players are 36 years old or older.
Laser tag first began as a game of Star Trek phasers in the 1979 so for those who were not Star Trek fans, the game didn’t have the same appeal for non-Trekkies. The good news is you don’t have to be a fan to understand how to play the game.
Safety First
Laser tag is a physical activity so rules must be in place to keep all participants safe. At the largest laser tag arena in Texas, Blazer Tag, the rules are simple to follow. No running or climbing, no physical contact with other players, no unsportsmanlike conduct, and keep both feet on the floor at all times.
If the safety rules are followed by all participants, laser tag for adults can be a memorable experience.
Playing the Game
Every laser tag arena has slightly different rules to the game, so be sure to inquire before playing if the rules are not presented to you before the game starts. At Blazer Tag, there is a briefing room where you will be instructed on how to play and a marshal supervises during the game.
Solo games are for 14 or fewer players and you can tag anyone. With 15 or more people, the participants are divided into teams. Every player starts with 20 lives. Players lose a life each time they run out of ammo or energy. When you tag an opponent, you score 25 points, but be careful not to get tagged because you lose 5 points each time. Games are 15 minutes long and the person who scores the most points wins.
