Laser tag has provided countless hours of entertainment for challenge-seekers of all ages, including adult laser tag fans. The concept has been around for more than 30 years and it started right here in the Lone Star State.
The game has come a long way and grown to become a popular way to host corporate events, group events, and birthday parties.
Texas Roots
George Carter was a young entrepreneur in Dallas when Star Wars hit movie theatres. As he watched the Luke and Princess Leia battle the Stormtroopers and run through the spaceships, he thought lasers and tagging people would make a fun game.
Carter created Photon entertainment in 1983 and opened the first laser tag facility about a year later. He created tremendous publicity within the first year. Dallas hosted the Republican National Convention and Carter invited the media to come out and try laser tag. The following year when Carter opened a franchise in New Jersey, the game was featured on ABC’s 20/20.
The phenomenon caught on quickly and another laser tag location also opened in Houston. Now there are laser tag locations worldwide and also a Laser Tag Museum in Louisville, Kentucky.
